Daily Paintings
These contemporary still lifes focus on moments of preparation and care. Figures are absent, yet their actions remain: sliced fruit, poured tea, dishes deliberately arranged. What’s left behind becomes the subject, too. The work quietly acknowledges the invisible labor embedded in daily life. It allows the still life to function as a subtle record of presence. I’ve been a figurative painter for my entire career. Only in the past year have I shifted toward still life. And I’ve loved the process of exploring new compositions, arrangements, and color relationships. I can, however, see that they’re generally figurative.
