About the artist
Born in Lima, Perú, Claudia is a Ventura-based illustrator, fine artist and educator. Claudia’s bi-cultural upbringing is a major influcence in her work. Growing up, she spent her time drawing, painting, collaging and assembling her short stories into miniature books. Her paintings and illustrations bring to life expressive and empowered characters that define a story.
Not limited to one medium, Claudia’s diverse practice includes traditional media: oil, acrylic, graphite; and in recent years, digital tools. Many of her current illustrations are digital. By adopting technology and combining old and new techniques to showcase her aesthetic, Claudia’s work stays relevant and visually compelling. Claudia’s illustrations appear in magazines, websites, publications, concept art, calendars and greeting cards. She is currently illustrating a children’s book which combines both hand-painted and digital art.
Claudia received her Master of Art from California State University, Northridge, is a former College Art professor and currently teaches Art and Digital Media. She lives with her family in Ventura, CA.
